Welcome New Team Members

We are excited to announce that two new staff members have joined our team! They are both working out of our Kelowna location, which is expanding rapidly. We had to get a second office in the Innovation Centre!

Suman Chakraborty joined us on October 1st. He is a Registered Architect with 30 years of experience. He has worked in both Alberta and BC, most recently in Kelowna and the Okanagan. Suman also brings international experience—in the Middle East, South Asia, and the UK—to his extensive portfolio.

Maryam Etezadi joined the team on September 23rd. She is an Intern Architect (through the AIBC) with ten years of experience, and she has worked in the Okanagan for the past four years. Maryam has a Bachelor of Architecture degree and a Master of Building Technology degree, as well as an MBA.

Although they are based in the Kelowna office, they will both be working on projects throughout Alberta and BC. These new team members are tremendous assets to Berry Architecture, and we are so pleased to have them on board! Welcome Suman and Maryam!

Project Completion - Innisfail Starbucks/Stripmall

Berry Architecture has been working with Bellco Ltd. on several new stripmalls in smaller Alberta cities and towns which feature Starbucks as their anchor. One of these projects has recently wrapped up in Innisfail. The building is currently comprised of Starbucks, Bar Burrito, Hear Right Hearing Clinic, and bays for two more businesses that will be rounding out the development. Ray snapped these photos on a beautiful day in September.

Project Update - Central and Watkins Housing Development

Central and Watkins is an ongoing multi-family, mixed-use housing project in Kimberley, BC. Berry Architecture has been working closely with Archer Properties Group on this multi-phased project for the past few years. So far, Buildings 6 and 3 are completed, and Building 2 is at the Building Permit review stage with the City of Kimberley. When completed, the development will have a mixture of bungalows and three-storey townhouse buildings (42 residential units in total), as well as retail units on the ground floors of Buildings 1 and 8. We are excited to see this project advancing to provide more housing and retail services in Kimberley.

Here are some things we've been up to:

The 2024 Chamber Chase (Red Deer Chamber of Commerce) was held on September 6th. Berry Architecture fielded a team once again; and this year, we were one of the hosting stops on the route. Ray, Angela, and Shylia made up the team in charge in our office, and the team taking part in the chase was Caitlin, Sarah, Tracey, and Jherlyn. It was our first time as a stop on the chase, so a fun new experience for us!

On September 25 - 26th, Berry Architecture had a booth at the tradeshow for the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association’s conference at the Westerner in Red Deer. George, Angela, and Ray were on hand to showcase what we have to offer to municipalities in Alberta.

October 17th was Susanne’s 25th Anniversary with Berry Architecture! We had a celebration on October 21st, decorating her office with a bouquet, 100 balloons, streamers, and then, of course, having some cake! Cheers to you, Susanne, for all your years of dedication and hard work at the firm!
