Project Update—Spirit River Seniors’ Apartment

Our new seniors’ independent living apartment is now under construction in Spirit River, Alberta. There was an official sign unveiling for the project on October 27th,which Raymond Rogers attended on behalf of Berry Architecture. This is the second project we have undertaken with the Grande Spirit Foundation. The new Spirit River Seniors’ Lodge is nearing completion, and the independent apartment building will be located on an adjacent site. It has been purposefully designed to complement the design of the lodge to create a harmonious appearance for the neighbourhood.

The apartment building will provide 26 units over four storeys. It will contain a mixture of 17 large one-bedroom units, 4 smaller one-bedroom units, and 5 two-bedroom units. The apartment will have several amenity spaces, including a multi-purpose room/fitness space, common dining area, common laundry rooms, and common gathering areas on each of the floors. The foundation system is now complete, and the contractor is preparing the base to be ready to pour the main floor slab.

Project Completion—St. Aidan’s Orthodox Church

We have recently completed an extensive renovation and addition to St. Aidan Orthodox Church in Cranbrook, BC. The interior of the church was renovated, with the orientation of the nave reversed from the previous layout. A small balcony was removed from the original nave and a mezzanine was added in the foyer addition. The original church entry has been maintained as a heritage site although the old church doors are now inactive and the church has a new front entrance. The addition houses the new church entrance and foyer as well as new stairs connecting the floors.

In the basement, there is now a larger kitchen, and the multi-purpose space has been enlarged to provide more room for the church’s outreach missions. The church is now fully barrier-free with an accessible bathroom layout and a new lift to access all levels. The insulation, building envelope, and fire safety in the church have all been given significant upgrades. The construction was completed by Eisenhauer Construction.

Kelowna Meet and Greet, October 18, 2023

Berry Architecture hosted a “Meet and Greet” in Kelowna on October 18th. We were excited to introduce ourselves to the Kelowna community and share our many services with the region. The event was held in the atrium of the Innovation Centre, with a video presentation in the theatre. We had a great turnout and a really fun night with conversation, drinks, snacks, and our raffle prize of a 24-person private suite at the November 4th Kelowna Rockets’ hockey game. On hand from Berry Architecture for the event were George, Isaac, Susanne, Carlos, Cassia, and Noemie.

Here are some things we've been up to:

On Saturday, October 28th, Ray and Adeline Rogers attended the Friends of the Grande Spirit Foundation’s Annual Harvest Dine and Dance in Grand Prairie with Krawford Construction. Berry Architecture contributed a gift basket valued at $200 to the silent auction in aid of the Grande Spirit Foundation. It was a fun evening of dinner and dancing!

On November 4th, we had a great night at Prospero Place in Kelowna with our “Meet and Greet” event raffle winner, Dan Gagne from Introba. Dan’s guests attended the Kelowna Rockets/Red Deer Rebels’ hockey game in a private suite with pizza, wings, sliders, snacks, and drinks. Berry Architecture’s George, Carlos, and Cassia rounded out the group.
