In-house Professional Development Conference

Berry Architecture held our own three-day professional development conference on April 29 - May 1 in our Red Deer office. All staff gathered from the three offices, and we spent the time working on three aspects of our business which we called “Get Work, Do Work, and Score Work”. Some of the time was spent learning more about each other and what each of us does in our particular job. It was wonderful to have the whole team together under one roof (minus the three team members who are currently on maternity/parental leave). We also had some fun with a highly competitive foosball tournament and, of course, lots of good food. We all learned some great take-aways to apply to our day-to-day operations and the overall business, as well as some obscure and quirky facts about each other!

Beaver First Nation Administration Building Ground Blessing Ceremony

Berry Architecture has been working on a new band administration building for Beaver First Nation in Child Lake, Alberta. The project is now under construction, and the official ground blessing and sod-turning ceremony took place on April 24th in Child Lake. Our Construction Administrator, Ray Rogers, attended the event representing Berry Architecture. The new administration building will house BFN’s education, social development, public works, and housing departments, as well as providing office space for staff. We are excited to have this project underway!

Invermere Six-plex—Project Completion

A new six-plex housing development in Invermere, BC is now ready for occupancy. The project features two and three-bedroom layouts—all units have a spacious kitchen/living room combo, generous primary bedroom with ensuite, in-suite laundry, and large outdoor balcony. Four of the six units have garages. Berry Architecture worked with Niax Developments on the project which provides much-needed new multi-family housing in the Town of Invermere.

Here are some things we've been up to:

Isaac attended the two-day Association for Learning Environments (A4LE Alberta Chapter) conference in Canmore, April 17-19. This excellent conference keeps us up-to-date on the latest developments in educational design and policy.

George, Isaac, and Caitlin attended the Alberta Association of Architect’s Banff Session Conference, May 10 and 11 at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel. As always, the conference was re-invigorating and informative for attendees. Caitlin was also on the organizing committee which kept her busy throughout the event.

Did you know?

It takes about 1.4 gallons (5.3 litres) of water to produce one typical single-use water or soda bottle.
