Berry Architecture Purchases Edmonton Firm!
We have some very exciting news to share with you! Berry Architecture has recently purchased an architecture firm based in Edmonton, AB—Brian Allsopp Architect Ltd. Founded in 1988 under the leadership of Brian Allsopp, the firm marked their 38th year of operation in 2026. They are a full-service firm, offering a comprehensive range of services to clients across Alberta and BC. Projects span a diverse spectrum of building types, including institutional, educational, commercial, multi-family, municipal, and cultural.
The firm’s reputation for excellence is built upon years of dedication and commitment to innovation. Offering visionary designs for new construction, renovations, and additions, Brian and the team are committed to quality and creativity. The firm purchase was a good fit for Berry Architecture to increase our presence in the Edmonton region. Brian is staying on with BAA in the roles of mentor and consultant. His many years of experience, architectural knowledge, and design acumen are invaluable additions to our projects. Pictured below are Brian, the exterior of the building in which the office is located, the lobby, and the entry to the office space. The building was a Brian Allsopp Architect project.

Highlights of Current Projects
Here are a few highlights of current projects that the Edmonton team is working on. The projects are all multi-family housing projects in the Blatchford area of Edmonton. The Blatchford development offers some unique features since it is on the site of the former Edmonton Municipal Airport and is a large-scale re-development of industrial land. It has also been designed with sustainability to the forefront—with high energy-efficiency standards, geothermal heating, solar arrays, community gardens and orchards, and rain gardens and bioswales.
The first project shown (top L) is 2704 Blatchford Road and 7704 Yorke Mews. The two buildings contain 84 and 86 housing units respectively, plus a corner retail bay in the Blatchford Road building. The second project (top R) is Hope Village. This is a mixed-use project with 55 affordable housing units and main floor commercial. Designed for supportive living, the commercial spaces provide programs and tenancies to facilitate reintegration into the community, as well as a Metis-themed coffee shop. The third image (bottom L) shows the Overlanders Townhouse project, with 97 affordable units and double the required amount of barrier-free suites. It features a central gathering space and is designed for multi-generational living. The final project (bottom R) is 6655 Alpha Boulevard, providing 89 residential units and a corner retail bay.

Here are some things we’ve been up to:
There was a ground-breaking ceremony for the Woodsdale Multi-housing Development on May 21st. Suman and Carlos attended representing BAA. All attendees signed one of our renderings which will be displayed at the project when completed. Carlos and Suman are looking very sharp in their BAA safety gear!
On May 28th, Susanne and Nora attended STYLE on the FLOOR, a fun event put on by a long-time supplier of ours, ERV Parent. The event was held at the Espy Boutique in Calgary and featured entertainment and a fashion show with local architects and designers modelling. Pictured are Nora, Shelly Lumgair from ERV Parent, and Susanne.
We have moved to a new office in Cranbrook! As of June 1st, we are now located at 101 Kootenay Street in their co-working space upstairs. Noemie and Carolyne are very pleased with their new spaces, and it is a full circle moment for us since we were the architecture firm for the interior and exterior renovations on the building.
On June 2nd, Carlos, Zac, and Isaac attended the 41st Annual Kelowna Chamber of Commerce Golf Classic. Team members took turns at our sponsored hole. Pictured is Adam holding down the fort at our tent. It’s been great getting to know other Chamber members in Kelowna and making connections in the business community.
Isaac, Carlos, and Suman attended the EFMA Conference in Penticton June 3-4. This is the annual conference for the Educational Facility Managers Association of BC. We took part in the tradeshow, and our booth featured some of our ongoing educational projects, including Fernie Elementary School and Flex Academy Addition.
We participated in the Urban Development Institute (Okanagan) Golf Tournament on June 12th in Kelowna. George, Carlos, and Tyler golfed on two different teams, and BAA sponsored a hole. The day was a real team effort, with Adam, Maryam, Laura, Suman, and J.P. taking turns at the tent. It was a good opportunity to chat with other industry professionals throughout the day. Pictured are Carlos, Shane Osborne, George, and Kyle Ruppel.
