Big Horn Fire Hall - Project Completion
A new construction project we have recently completed is the Big Horn Fire Hall for the Stoney Nakoda Nation in Big Horn, Alberta. The new Fire Hall is part of the Nation’s expanding Emergency Management Service. It is located just south of the existing Ta’ Otha Community School, on the Big Horn Reserve west of Rocky Mountain House. The new facility provides fire-fighting capabilities for the region and includes two drive-through apparatus bays, a decontamination room, duty gear cleaning, turnout gear storage, a change room, an office, a training room, and ancillary spaces.

Ogilvie Way apartments - Project Completion
Ogilvie Way Apartments is a new apartment building in Kimberley, BC which is now ready for move-in. This was an interesting project for us because it was modular construction—built in a factory and then assembled and completed on site. Berry Architecture worked with Big Block Construction on the project which provides 39 rental apartments. There is a good mix of suite sizes, with 18 one-bedroom, 9 two-bedroom, and 12 three-bedroom units. These new units provide some much-needed affordable rental accommodations for Kimberley.
Here are some things we've been up to:
On June 14, the Urban Development Institute (Okanagan) held their annual golf tournament in Kelowna. George was our golfer, and Carlos and Emma were kept busy at the hole that we sponsored.
Carlos attended the Passive House Canada Conference in Victoria, June 17-19. He is our Certified Passive House Designer, and this conference helps him keep his skills up to date.
On June 26, BAA and Legacy Accountants held our annual rooftop BBQ lunch. This year, we decided to hire the Red Deer Food Bank’s Totally Chill Ice Cream truck for the event as a way to support the Food Bank—and have some delicious ice cream!
Berry Architecture supported the Kootenay Fun 5 Run again this year. This is a fundraising event for one of our educational clients—Kootenay Christian Academy in Cranbrook. Families, fun, and fitness were the theme of the day, with a record attendance of 673 registrants and over $10,000 raised for the students of KCA!
On July 5th, Carlos attended the Urban Development Institute’s Penticton Development Tour. This bus tour provided an in-depth look at some exciting new projects underway or in development in Penticton.
