Project Update: 22 St. Thomas Street Affordable Housing!
A new 120-unit affordable housing development is in progress for St. Albert, Alberta! We are working with Homeland Housing Foundation to create this large-scale mixed-use affordable housing venture. 22 St. Thomas Street Affordable Housing is located in the heart of the St. Albert community and strives to provide a long-lasting positive impact on the surrounding neighbourhood and future residents. The project focuses on improving the health and well-being of residents through thoughtful and inclusive design strategies. There are 120 suites, with studio, one, two, and three-bedroom layouts. We have provided a total of 89 units which can accommodate adaptable or barrier-free clearance requirements. The ground floor provides commercial retail spaces, and there is both underground and surface parking. The project is at the Development Permit stage.

Project Completion:
The Penticton YMCA Child Care Centre project is now complete! This was a project for the City of Penticton in partnership with the YMCA of Southern Interior BC. It entailed the renovation of an existing space, plus a two-storey stand-alone addition. The centre provides new child care spaces for children ranging in age from infants to school-age, with four new child care rooms, washrooms, storage spaces, and two outdoor playgrounds. There is also an elevator to assist those with mobility needs which accesses the second floor. Pictured are three of our architects checking out the new facility: L-R, Carlos, Isaac, and Suman.

Project Update: Edgeview Multi-family Housing Development
The Edgeview Multi-family Housing project in Kamloops, BC is currently under construction. It will be a four-storey wood framed multi-family building with 88 units, comprised of a mixture of bachelor, one, and two-bedroom suites. Parking is provided both in an underground parkade and as surface parking, with dedicated EV-ready stalls. Edgeview has been designed to meet BC Step Code Level 4 requirements. The location provides beautiful views overlooking the Kamloops Valley and easy access to local trails. This is another project we have undertaken with Highstreet Ventures which adds significant housing stock to communities in the Okanagan region.

What we’ve been up to this month:
Our Interior Designer, Tyleena Robertson, has earned her Professional Designation through the Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification program. This advanced training provides practical tools to create built environments that are accessible, inclusive, and people-centered. Congratulations, Tyleena!
Branislav Vrbaski is now a Registered Architect with the AIBC! He works out of our Edmonton office as a Construction Administrator and is currently in the process of becoming registered with the AAA as well. Congratulations, Bran!
The Edmonton office had a refresh to update it to Berry Architecture’s signature colours and branding. Painting and reorganizing was completed on August 2nd, and the space is looking good!
On August 14th, a team from Berry Architecture attended the Foundation for Red Deer Public Schools’ Golf Tournament. The team was sporting our eye-catching golf outfits and attracted a lot of attention! Berry Architecture has been a long-term supporter of the Foundation through the Striving for Excellence and Finish Line programs, and we are happy to support RDSD events whenever we can.
