Project Completion - Princeton Public Works Building
A new Public Works building for the Town of Princeton is now complete! The new facility accommodates the repair and maintenance of the Town’s industrial and commercial fleet. It has a total area of 910 m2 and consists of a shop space, with adjacent administration, personnel, and service areas located within the same volume. This pre-engineered metal building contains the large shop plus an interior two-level space which accommodates the administration and service functions along the north and west sides of the shop. The maintenance repair shop, tool storage, fuel and forklift storage, offices, washrooms, and staff room are located on the main floor, with a mezzanine floor that provides open storage as well as enclosed mechanical and IT rooms.
New Project - Olds College Metals Building
We are currently working on a new project with Olds College—a renovation of their Metals Building. This is a satisfying project for our team because we completed an interior renovation of the classrooms, offices, and washrooms in 2017, and we are now continuing this work with other renovations to the facility. The scope for this year's work is being completed in two phases. The first phase includes relocating an existing office and converting a large classroom into two smaller ones. The second phase is the renovation of two of the four existing welding labs, upgrading them to add 22 welding booths, as well as a renovation to the Fabrication Shop and the addition of a new stand-alone cold storage building. The additional capacity and upgrades are needed to meet enrollment demands and the growing programming for high school youth within Alberta’s Collegiate model. |

Project Update - Valemount Ski Lodge, Spa Building
A new project currently under construction is a new spa facility at the CMH Valemount Ski Lodge near Valemount, BC. The project is a stand-alone spa building that includes a fitness room, three massage rooms, sauna, lounge, and outdoor hot tub and pool which are located on a heated exterior deck. The building will be in keeping with the existing ski lodge and will take advantage of the magnificent scenery at the ski hill. This is a design-build project that we are completing with Scott Builders. Project is at the framing stage.
Here are some things we've been up to:
On July 9th, Carlos did a walk-through of the Paradigm Plant in Louis Creek, BC (north of Kamloops). The plant produces pre-fabricated wall systems, and the tour was a good opportunity to see how the pre-fabricated systems are constructed.
On August 9-11, the BAA team went on our annual group camping trip. We were at a lovely group site at Crimson Lake this year. In addition to the campers, several people came out for the potluck dinner on Saturday night. The weather was perfect, and it was a lot of fun—as always.
At the end of August, our summer students, Emma and Lynden, will be heading back to school. Good-bye and best of luck to you both. Thanks for all your hard work!
