Pleasant View Lodge Completion, Spirit River, AB
The Pleasant View Lodge (Spirit River Lodge) was officially handed over to the Grande Spirit Foundation in mid-March. Furniture fit-up will take place in mid-May, followed by move-in for the residents. We will have final completion photos to share in either the May or June edition of the newsletter. In the meantime, we have some great exterior photos and drone shots, taken by William Vavrek Photography, to share with you. The overhead shots also show the Seniors’ Self-contained Apartment Building next to the Lodge that is currently under construction.
Pinetree Valley Development - Project Update
Berry Architecture has been working with Generation Homes for the past few years on a large-scale residential development—the Pinetree Valley Housing Development in Invermere, BC. This affordable multi-family development is located in the southeastern part of the town. The development provides a variety of both affordable and market-rate housing options, with sizes ranging from one-bedroom to four-bedroom units. When complete, the development will feature 104 units overall, consisting of three 16-plex buildings, 13 four-plex buildings, and four single family houses, plus parking, bicycle and ski storage facilities, and a shared green space. Of the 100 multi-units, 68 will be available for rent and 32 will be for sale.
Although the homes are designed to be affordable, they are also constructed to provide a long-lasting high value, with low-maintenance exteriors featuring Hardie Board siding and lifetime-rated shingles. Inside, there are complete appliance packages and high-quality durable finishes throughout. The homes are being built to BC Energy Step Code 4, ensuring homes are comfortable, efficient, and durable. As an additional family-friendly feature, the community park will be donated to the District of Invermere and will be open to the public.
This on-going project is currently in varying phases of construction. Of the 13 four-plex buildings, one is completed, seven are under construction, and five have not yet begun construction. The 16-plex buildings are at the detailed design stage, with the structural engineers working out the structural systems for the varying soil conditions on the large site. One single family house is now under construction.
Did you know?
Electricity flows through plugged-in appliances and devices even when the power is turned off! This is called “ghost” or “phantom” power and can account for up to 10% of your home electrical bill. Here are some tips to reduce ghost power consumption:
- Turn off your devices; don’t just have them in sleep mode.
- Unplug appliances, lights, and devices when you are not using them.
- If devices/computers are hard to unplug, use a power bar and switch it off when not in use.
