The Rosealta Lodge in Camrose required a major expansion and renovation of its 65-unit lodge. The 40-unit addition is a three-storey, stand-alone entity joined to the existing lodge with a link. The suites are spacious and comfortable, with H/C compliant bathrooms and kitchenette. The addition includes a new dining room and laundry facility, and all other amenity spaces are shared with the existing lodge. The addition also features gathering/recreation spaces on each floor to provide social areas in close proximity to these residents. Renovations to the existing lodge include upgrades to fire alarm and door access systems, nurse call system, wireless network, and sprinkler system. Complex phasing was required, and resident and staff safety were of paramount importance as the lodge was occupied throughout construction. The lodge now provides both independent living units and lodge suites.
The new addition was designed to complement the existing lodge, not as an exact replica of style and finishes, but rather as a sympathetic treatment using similar exterior colours and finishes. We achieved a continuous main floor level, with no ramps or stairs, between both buildings and resolved significant site, soil, and grading concerns. Each floor is distinguishable by its own palette and design motif. Project was completed in December of 2015.
