Saddle Lake Health Care Centre
Saddle Lake, Alberta
Saddle Lake Cree Nation #125 required a significant expansion and renovation of their existing community health centre. Berry Architecture worked closely with Health Canada and the Health Centre representatives’ team to enhance the current programmed spaces through the expansion and modernization of the 1185 m2 facility. There were three additions consisting of 36 m2,100 m2, and a new Home Care wing which is 450 m2. The health centre is a multi-use facility which encompasses a wide array of services including community health, pre-natal and maternal health, Well Baby, home care, dental clinic, and visiting therapists.
All existing program spaces with the exception of the main reception area and the dental suite were reconfigured. Upgrades included new mechanical and electrical systems, data/telecom, interior architectural finishes, brick re-pointing, and other exterior improvements.
The multi-purpose facility provides primary health care and community health services to the Saddle Lake Cree Nation’s on-reserve population. The facility remained fully operational during the construction process; thus, construction phasing and site security were of primary importance.
