Hudson’s Green Nature and Activity Centre
Ponoka, Alberta
Previously the Ponoka Water Treatment Plant, the Hudson’s Green Community Centre has been designed to be multi-functional, incorporating spaces for clubs and meeting areas. The first phase included demolition work within the building, with only minor site revisions pending future completion of street development. A new janitor’s room, washrooms, kitchen, flooring, finishes, repair work on the stairs and handrails, and constructing a new floor for the meeting room have been completed. The second phase will be to install a lift to the mezzanine and complete the site work. The third phase will be to install a living wall, solar tubes, and hot water solar collectors. Energy conservation features and planning for future growth of the facility were of primary importance for this project. We provided a community meeting, computer renderings, and a presentation to the Town of Ponoka Council.
