Medium Pace Winery

Summerland, British Columbia

This new winery in British Columbia’s Okanagan region presented an exciting design opportunity for the Berry Architecture team. The winery and residence will be situated on the slopes of Okanagan Lake, near Summerland, BC. The North-South axis of the project runs parallel to Okanagan Lake and orients the building to maximize the experience of the site and surrounding views. The winery is designed to engage views of both the landscape and the wine-making process.

The main elements are the residence, a future vacation rental suite, the workshop housing the wine-making process, and the public tasting room which provides views of the cellar, the vines, and the lake. A minimal material palette, in concert with the massing and roof lines, creates a strong architectural language, resulting in a visual design that makes a statement on the hillside site.

The completion target date was 2023.
