Homeland Housing Corporate Office
Morinville, Alberta
A decommissioned school in Morinville, Alberta was converted into the corporate office for Homeland Housing Foundation. The project was a complete renovation of the building’s exterior and interior. The exterior was updated with new windows, doors, cladding, and open storefront entrance. The existing footprint of the building was maintained while the interior was completely renovated to add: 15 new offices, a boardroom, meeting rooms, staff room with kitchenette, accessible lift, and barrier-free washrooms.
In many ways this project is an example of sustainable architecture because the building shell and structure were maintained, keeping all these materials out of the landfill and eliminating the need to use new materials.
