Berry Architecture + Associates has an immediate opening in our Kelowna or Red Deer offices for an Architect with 5+ years of North American professional experience.

Under the direction of the Design Leader, this position performs a variety of duties associated with design expertise, client relationships, and staff collaboration. Experience in a wide range of typologies is required. Work will involve Project Leadership, design lead, external consultants’ coordination, site planning, project budgeting, design, construction monitoring, business development, and client relationships. Successful candidate must be registered or eligible to be registered with either the AAA or AIBC.

Required Experience:

  • Mid-to-senior level position and applies to individuals with at least 5+ years of North American experience in the practice of Architecture
  • Completion of an accredited professional degree program with a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in architecture, or equivalent in appropriate education and experience. Registered or eligible to be a registered Architect in Alberta or British Columbia is a requirement
  • Capable of managing and/or supervising project teams of architects, engineers, and designers of medium and large projects
  • Demonstrate a high degree of aptitude in critical, creative thinking associated with design and the design process
  • Participate and contribute in design and project leadership with design discussions, idea generation, collaboration, and design work in drawing (both hand and computer), modelling, and 3D formats
  • Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of architectural specifications, building codes, life safety codes, and current accessible building and sustainable standards
  • Experienced in programming, planning, and building performance
  • Qualifications/Proficiencies consistent with mid-to-senior level experience for a motivated and creative professional; able to design with an inherent understanding of building systems; capable of designing projects for high-quality public, private, and institutional clients
  • Self-motivated and able to problem-solve independently. Strong working knowledge of Autodesk Revit, Illustrator, Photoshop, Microsoft Office, and Google SketchUp. Working knowledge of AutoCAD is beneficial
  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Participate and contribute in design and project management with design discussions, idea generation, collaboration, and design work in drawing, modelling, and 3D image formats
  • A registered design professional directing non-registered and other professionals assigned to design, produce, and coordinate the design process and technical documents
  • Creation of graphical images. Design and detailing in Revit
  • Attend project and client meetings with design professionals for both business development opportunities and projects under contract.

Berry Architecture + Associates has an immediate opening in our Kelowna or Red Deer office for an Intermediate or Senior Technologist with 5+ years of North American professional experience. We are a mid-size Canadian firm, with offices in Red Deer, Cranbrook, and Kelowna that focuses on progressive design developments in a wide variety of project typologies.

This position requires an individual with an architectural technology diploma or architecture degree with a minimum of five years of professional commercial North American experience. Experience with a wide range of building typologies is necessary. Strong REVIT experience is required. Successful candidate must possess strong problem-solving and customer service skills as well as experience in and a commitment to sustainability. Proven team work and leadership skills are required.

Primary Responsibilities and Goals

  • Develop working drawings and assist with coordination of all disciplines
  • Review drawings for errors and omissions, creating mark up documents
  • Create and translate various details and construction procedures
  • Research, comprehend, and implement various construction systems
  • Perform site reviews and construction field reports
  • Work within allowable timeframes
  • Maintain up-to-date production sets
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of architectural specifications, building codes, life safety codes, and current accessible building and sustainable standards
  • Experience in programming, planning, and building performance
  • Qualifications/Proficiencies consistent with mid-to-senior level experience for a motivated and creative technologist; able to produce drawings with an inherent understanding of building systems
  • Self-motivated and able to problem-solve independently
  • Strong working knowledge of Autodesk REVIT and Microsoft office is required
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, and other graphic programs such as Google SketchUp, InDesign, and Enscape would be an asset
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other team members, clients, contractors, and the general public
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Education and Experience Required

  • 2-year diploma from an Accredited Technical Institution
  • 5+ years of professional commercial North American experience
  • Experience in a BIM world with Autodesk REVIT is required
  • Must demonstrate capability of handling multiple tasks and projects
  • Capability to assemble various drawing packages
  • Project coordination.
