Berry Architecture has worked with the Evergreens Foundation on an on-going basis to create a major expansion and renovation of the Parkland Lodge in Edson. The project consists of the renovation of 18 existing single lodge units, the construction of 62 new supportive living lodge units (comprised of 56 single units and 6 one-bedroom units), and the construction of 25 independent living market rental apartments for a total of 105 units. The facility will provide a complete range of seniors’ living opportunities ranging from completely independent apartments to 4D care levels. The lodge itself will range from level 2 to 4D. The new lodge facility will also consist of a commercial kitchen, dining rooms, lounges, multi-purpose/activity rooms, offices, assisted bath room, hair salon, home care, and residential laundry as well as all other required amenity spaces.
We worked within the existing site constraints which include beautiful grounds, walking paths, and a creek running through the property, all of which have been maximized in the design. In the initial project development process (2014), we provided a full complement of 3D presentation boards, a full size suite representation, and an open house for the residents, their families, and the community to present the design. Project is currently under construction.
