Harbour The Prince of Peace Campus is located in Rocy View County on 150 acres of green space consisting of seniors housing, a supportive living manor, and k-9 school. Berry Architecture & Associates was asked to evaluate the site for the addition of a dementia care facility to complement the existing components and provide architecture services for an addition ot the Manor.

The Harbour is one of the first dementia clinics in the province. Our project involved a 32 unit 2,285 sq m (24,600 sq ft) Dementia Care Centre with a unique Architectural Design. The entry of the building is a 2-storey turret with an exposed timber ceiling and two symmetrical wings. Each wing has 16 suites, a kitchen, dining area, sitting area and quiet rooms; giving a sense of "home" and the possibility of offering two levels of dementia care in the same building. The octagonal shape of the building created an enclosed courtyard exterior space that is safe for the residents.

The security and safety of each resident was the overarching design criteria. Attention to detail was critical. Every buidling element was reviewed including lighting, flooring, interior colors, and lockable cabinetry.

Berry Architecture's role in this project began in the early planning and design phase and has continued through construction with the first resident taking occupancy in late March 2010.
